Rafael’s 9:00 cancelled. Here’s how it got filled.

A customer cancels

-
Beth Corley accepts
Beth gets one text, sees Tuesday 8:00 next to today at 9:00 and taps Accept. Mark is never texted.
-
The schedule updates
Beth’s toilet rebuild moves to 9:00 with Rafael, and her Tuesday 8:00 opens up for another call.

How does Patcher work for plumbers?
From the phone ringing to the truck pulling out, here’s how a small plumbing shop runs its day in Patcher.
- 01
Book the call before you hang up
Pick the customer, the job and who’s going. Suggested times leave room for the drive from the last call, so nobody gets booked across town with ten minutes to get there.
- 02
Estimate the bigger jobs first
Text an estimate for a water heater or a repipe with a couple of options. The customer approves online, and you book the approved work for as long as it takes.
- 03
Fit the urgent call in
A burst line gets the first time that really works. Patcher checks each plumber’s day before it saves, and if you choose to overlap a job, it asks you first.
Does Patcher do what plumbers need?
Every plan includes every feature.
- Can customers book a plumber online? Yes
- Customers pick a service and a time. Drain clears book instantly; leaks and bigger jobs come in as requests. How online booking works
- Does it send automatic appointment reminders? Yes
- Reminder texts go out before each appointment, plus confirmations for online bookings.
- Can I set up recurring appointments? Yes
- Book a repeating appointment once and your regulars stay on the schedule.
- Can I see every plumber’s day on one screen? Yes
- One calendar with a column for each person, their openings and blocked time like lunch.
- Can I squeeze in an emergency without double-booking? Yes
- Every time is checked against that plumber’s day before it saves. To overlap for an emergency, Patcher asks. How booking works
- Can a cancelled service call be filled? Yes
- Customers booked later are lined up for the opening. You approve, and they’re texted one at a time. How cancellation filling works
- Does it leave time to drive across my service area? Yes
- With “we visit customers” on, suggested times leave room for the drive from the last call. How travel-aware scheduling works
- Can I check the next call from the truck? Yes
- Patcher works in your phone’s browser, with a day view made for a small screen.
- Can I switch from paper or the whiteboard? Yes
- Free setup and switching help from paper or a whiteboard. Your subscription is priced separately. How switching works

More than ten people taking appointments?
Let’s talk it through first. Book a call
How much does Patcher cost for plumbers?
One price for your team, by how many people take appointments. Every plumber who runs calls counts, so a two- to four-plumber shop is on one of the two smaller plans. Office-only staff don’t count.

Questions plumbers ask about Patcher
How much is it for a shop with three plumbers?
Patcher starts at $29 a month for 1–2 people, and three plumbers who run calls are on the next plan up. The price steps up by how many people take appointments, never by features, so estimates, online booking, travel-aware times and cancellation filling come with every plan. Office staff who never run a call don’t count. Try it free for 14 days.
Can I fit a burst pipe into a full day?
Yes. Search for the next time that works and Patcher suggests openings with the drive from each plumber’s last call counted. Every booking is checked against that plumber’s day before it saves. If you decide a burst pipe is worth overlapping a routine call, Patcher asks before it lets you, so it’s always your decision.
Can I send an estimate before I book a water heater or a repipe?
Yes. Build the estimate from your services, add options like a standard and a high-efficiency water heater, and text the customer a link. They approve or decline online, and once they approve, you book the work for as long as it really takes.
If a service call cancels, who gets offered the time?
Customers already booked later whose job fits: the same length or shorter, with a plumber who’s free then and a drive that works before and after. You choose who gets asked and in what order. Everyone keeps their current appointment until someone accepts, and a customer who says no keeps theirs while the next person you approved is asked.
Can I switch from paper or a field service app I barely use?
Yes, and the switching help is free. From paper or a spreadsheet, we help organize your customers and upcoming calls. From Jobber or Housecall Pro, we bring over the information we agree on and set up your services and team. Keep your current system until you’re ready to switch.
